Not your typical lodge. Very beautiful interior.  I could tell a lot of thought went into making guests comfortable. The best wildlife viewing in the most calm surroundings is what we found at the Matanuska Lodge. What a treat to savor coffee (they grind it fresh daily) on the deck as the swans land on the lake.

I have never slept better than this. The covers are so cozy and the sheets are the softest. Going to bed at 11 p.m. when the sun was shining was easy, great blackout shades. For people like us not used to so much light, this really helped and what great rest I got.
